Eyestir, Apple and the i/Book logic board problem

FAQS

Goodbye Mr. Jobs
An open letter to Steven Jobs
Apple iBooks
®  and the Continuing Logic Board Failure Scandal

Think it's different? Think again!

Listen to an Apple rep deny that the problem exists.(listen to apple deny everything)

"There are no known issues" - an Apple Representative

Dear Mr. Jobs

My name is Bill Owen and I am a victim of the now notorious apple iBook® logic failure. I have discussed this issue with your reps who denied any knowledge of the problem, they also refused to agree to fix my machine just 2 weeks out of warranty. I do not believe that Apple is not aware of this problem. At the time of my complaint there were hundreds of people in the chat rooms who described identical problems. I do believe that Apple was once a great company and that that reputation is now seriously in danger. Due to your refusal to fix my ibook, (just two weeks out of warranty) I have had no choice but to post my experiences on my web site and I have allied myself with other victims, notably Michael at www.blackcider.com in an effort to persuade you to do the right thing.

We will not rest until this issue is resolved, I promise you. Where I come from the price of an ibook is a lot of money!

We will continue to lobby Apple to fix this problem - and it is indisputably a problem! You can view my efforts at www.Eyestir.com . If there is not some movement soon I will be starting a class action soon here in Canada, I already have dozens of names of similarly afflicted Canadians. I am getting emails from all over the world about this, some from people with limited incomes who are devastated by the loss. I myself used to use the iBook® when visiting prospective clients and I am now reduced to waving my hands around in the air and showing them pieces of paper.

Has Apple lost it's mind, it marketing sense and its morality all at the same time? Do I have to tell you that you don't sell computers - that you sell dreams, prestige and confidence? If you sell defective junk and then tell loyal customers to get lost - they will, and they will tell 10 friends who will tell 10 friends. My web site is now getting hundreds of hits a day - and they are there to read about the iBook® logic board failures!

There are also serious serious ethical issues here Mr. Jobs, once it is proven that Apple knew that the logic boards were faulty - yet continued to replace faulty boards with faulty boards, well you can imagine the fallout.

Your MacWorld conference is coming up very very soon - an announcement of a warranty extension, a recall or an upgrade will make this all go away; otherwise you are going to lose market share and invaluable consumer confidence. I am astounded by your position on this. I just find it insane, and I don't mean insanely great. Have a look on the web, Reuters has picked this up, CNN, Zdnet, theregister - on many many mac/apple sites users are talking about this, the growing consensus - even among hardcore macheads, is that this is not just a technical problem (we can understand that) but a sleazy, rotten, corporate strategy to steal our money and then blow us off.

You know Mr. Jobs, I used to really admire you and your company.

Yours truly

Bill Owen
